Tea of the Day!!

Tonight’s tea is a 2008 Vintage Spring Harvest Raw Puerh from Bana Tea Company.  This tea has been allowed to age naturally as opposed to the cooked puerhs which have been processed to accelerate flavor development.  Because it is still a “young” tea it tastes much more like a green tea than a cooked puerh.  The tea tends to be a tiny bit bitter on the first steep, but mellows out and picks up a mild apricot flavor on subsequent steeps.  The tea leaves hold up very well; I often get 5-6 steeps before the tea becomes too weak!

This tea comes in chunks that were broken off of a tea cake; I usually use one per pot and steep for 3 minutes.

The Doctor seems quite fascinated by the lovely color of this tea :)
